About the Artist: Phoenix artist, Jeanne Bonine, is known for her soft and lush larger-than-life floral watercolors.  Although her early works of the 70’s were executed in oils, Bonine soon discovered the challenge of transparent watercolor.  It became the medium of her choice as she learned through the years to master the “purist” techniques and the art of controlled freedom.

She began to self publish her works in 1986 as limited edition lithographs and later moved to the newer method of giclee printing, releasing nearly 200 of her works in a twenty-five year span.

In 1994, after being treated for Stage III breast cancer, Bonine, a romantic realist, began to write prose, creatively revealing her idealistic beliefs. The art of inspiring is the essence of both her paintings and her writings.

Jeanne‘s watercolors can be found in US galleries and collector’s homes and offices throughout the world.  Her works have been featured on Northwest Airlines Wine and Food Menus and in featured articles of many prominent magazines including Southwest Art, Phoenix Home and Garden and Images AZ.   Bonine’s Southwest cactus paintings have been shown at the Phippen Museum of Art as well as the Caballero Western Museum and her paintings also adorn the walls of Hilton Mesa, Camelback Spa,   Mayo Clinic and the State Capitol in Phoenix.

Bonine’s most treasured and heartfelt accomplishment is attributed to her visit to Africa. Her painting “Angel by My Side” now hangs as a permanent collection in the Women’s and Children’s Hospital of Naivasha, Kenya.

A former native and resident of St. Paul, Minnesota, Bonine made the Southwest her home in 1994.  Surrounded by subtle beauty and luminescent light, Jeanne finds Phoenix and the Sonoran Desert a vital part of her inspiration and well being.

Her studio in north Scottsdale is open by appointment.  Should you have the opportunity to visit, Jeanne may be moved to read a prose or two from her published coffee table book, “Inspirations of Timeless Beauty” which includes her paintings, award winning prose and inspirational life story.
